Bible Scripturegraphic: Salt not Sugar

January 17, 2017 by MaryK Leave a Comment

Salt not Sugar

Two of America’s most popular seasonings are sugar and salt. We can’t eat without ’em.  When I was growing up, we always had salt and a sugar bowl on the table. I’d dump spoonful after spoonful of sugar on my Cornflakes. Sugar overload! The sugar bowl went the way of the 8-track tape, no longer a mainstay in the American household.

While the Bible is silent concerning sugar, it has much to say about salt. As a matter of fact, we are told to be salt. To do the Scripturegraphic Bible study on salt, please click on the link below:

Bible by the Numbers

January 2, 2017 by MaryK Leave a Comment

My husband and my oldest son are fascinated by numbers (they’re both engineers). They call each other when their speedometers reach certain benchmarks such as 10, ooo, 22,222, 123, 456, or other worthy numbers. They even take pictures. They get excited about certain dates such as 09-10-11 and times like 11:11. Especially if it happens on 11-11-11. Not kidding. I know, they need intervention.

God is also interested in numbers. There is even a whole book of the Bible devoted to the subject.

What’s your favorite number?

Why do you like it?

Follow the link to Blue Letter Bible, do a quick search and see if your favorite number is mentioned in the Bible.

Did you learn anything new about your favorite number?

Whatever your favorite number, God wants you to be concerned with just one number. Number One. He is the One and only true God, and He wants us to love him with all out heart, soul, mind and strength.

How can you love Him today with all you heart?

with all your soul?

with all your mind?

with all your strength?

Focus today on the One thing that matter. Jesus, the one and only.

Love God png

Jesus replied:

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart

and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

Matthew 22:37

Priorities are very important.

Children, spouses, work, missions, church, the sick, the lost, the homeless …  all of these are worthy causes, but what should come first? How can we decide? As always God has the answer if we will only open our Bibles and look To learn what our priorities should be, please click on the link below.

Scripturegraphic: Christmas Grace

Christmas Grace

Bible Scripturegraphic: Christmas Grace

During the “most wonderful time of the year” the phrases joy to the world and peace on earth are ever on our lips. Joy and peace fill our hearts as we reflect upon Emmanuel God with us. But what about amazing grace? Usually this phrase is reserved for Easter and the grace of the cross. However, there would be no grace of the cross without the grace of the cradle. Jesus humbled Himself and took on flesh to tabernacle among us. From the cradle to the cross, it’s all about grace, Christmas Grace!

Scripturegraphics: To-Do List

June 17, 2015 by MaryK Leave a Comment

To do List pngI am a list maker. Each morning, in the summer, when I get up in the morning, I make a to-do list. I list all of my chores and tasks I want to complete that day. I even assign time allotments for each item on my to-do list. My to-do lists aren’t just for chores however; fun activities are also included. Piano practice, painting, bike rides and walks in the woods make the to-do list.

God is also a list maker; the Ten Commandments, of the Old Testament,  is a very well know to-do list. In the New Testament, Jesus adds to the commandment to-do list with 1. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and 2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

In Matthew 5, Jesus continues to challenge the culture with new directives (a new to-do list of sorts) concerning our enemies … and this one is a challenge. It involves grace. love. mercy. All the things we usually least feel like showing an enemy. This to-do list even has a time allotment–always.
