If you have been following the international news over the past few weeks, you may have seen how our Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq are suffering terribly at the hands of the terrorist group ISIS. Men, women, and children are being murdered mercilessly by this group. I’ve included a video and some sources that you can use to keep up with this current situation and other persecuted groups too.
At Only By Prayer, we’d like to request that you intercede for the Iraqi Christians. We need to pray for protection, for the persecution to stop, and for justice to be served. If you feel led, please share your prayer in the comment section below

Oh Lord, I pray your words from Psalm 55:9 “Confuse the wicked , O Lord, and confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city.” Jesus, we ask that you would confuse the plans of the wicked. We pray a hedge of protection around the Iraqi Christians. We ask that the world will see their plight, and we pray for their rescue. We pray for the hearts of the persecutors to be changed as was Saul’s when he was traveling to Damascus. Amen.
I just saw a news article today about an Indianapolis native, Peter Kassig, who the ISIS are now threatening to kill. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
God, I pray for protection over Peter’s life. I also pray for the protection of the other Christians who the ISIS are terrorizing. I pray that you will “Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before” (Psalm 68: 28).
