National Day of Prayer 2016

Image: nuchylee / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

I know that many of you spend time praying for America throughout the year. But on the first Thursday of every May we are privileged to have a specific day set aside to pray for our country called the National Day of Prayer.

With primaries going on and our presidential election coming up this November, I can’t think of a better time to pray for our country than during this contentious time. Looking for a local event to participate in? Click on the link in the previous sentence to see what is happening around you. If you’d like to follow the activities in Washington as they are broadcast live from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m ET on Thursday, May 5,  you belong right here.

Post Your Prayer

And at Only By Prayer, we’d love to have you join us in prayer as well. Please feel free to pray with us by posting your prayer below in the comments. Post as many prayers as you wish.

May God bless America!

Pray on!

    Dear Lord,
We pray for our nation and ask that we would confess our sins and turn to you. We thank you for this country you have blessed us with. May we never take it or You for granted. We ask for healing for the divisive spirit that has taken root in America. May we treat each with respect and with kindness, even when and especially when we don’t agree with each other. May we seek Your plans for our lives and for our country. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Dear God,

Thank you for the many, many blessings you have bestowed upon our country! I’m thankful that I have the freedom to worship you in public. I’m thankful that you called me to teach in a Christian school. I’m thankful for my church family that disciples and encourages me. I’m thankful for my family who love and support me no matter what!

God you are good and powerful! Even though the future of our nation is questionable, we know that you are in control and will never leave your children. We cling to the promises and truths found only in your Word. Please draw our country’s leaders to you….soften their hearts and lead all of us to repent for our sins. May we live our lives with integrity, seeking to glorify your name alone.

In your holy, precious, and POWERFUL name, Amen!

I like fewer larger works of art more than the gallery look of smaller frames clustered together. I think the next piece of art I'm going to get will be an extra large Ed Ruscha towel th#;9a3&ts about 7 feet wide.

Father God in the name of Jesus. We pray against the spirit of proverty Lord today. Lord we ask that you increase wisdom in the body of Christ so that we may have wealth Lord. We come against the lies of the enemy that states Holy=Proverty. Jesus you did not preach to the poor so that they may remain poor Lord but so we can have an abundance Father. Lord we seek prayers for our family Lord. We trust in you for spiritual breakthroughs Lord. Father we ask that you supply our ever requesting prayer for our trip Lord. We refuse to give up hope because we know that in the blink of an eye out situation can turn around Lord. We thank you for teaching us to celebrate you regardless of the sun or rain Lord. Thank you for being such a faithful Father Lord. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
