Do you only have a few minutes for prayer today? You’re in the right place! Try one of our new i pray podcasts. A few minutes is all you need to pray God’s word into any situation by interceding for friends, family, and yourself.

Show Notes

Do you ever feel that you’ve messed up too much for God to forgive you?

That is a lie. When we confess our sins and accept that Jesus died on the cross and took the penalty for our sins on Himself, we have the assurance that we are forgiven.

Once we have established our relationship with Christ, when the Holy Spirit convicts us of any new sins we’ve committed we simply confess them and let the Spirit work in our lives to heal us of what needs healing. God is our God of second chances.

Let’s pray today using 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Thank you for praying with us at OnlyByPrayer.com today!

i hear: forged by fire

i hear

29 “Is not My word like a fire?” says the LORD

“And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
Jeremiah 23:29
Quick! What do you think of when you hear the words fire and hammer?
Did the Bible come to mind?
God uses both of these words to describe His word. How is the Bible like a hammer? How is it like fire? Better yet, how does God use both of these tools to shape our lives? Sounds like it might be painful.
Ouch!
If you’ve been a Christ follower for more than a few days, you know the refining process can be painful, but there is purpose in the pain!

Do you only have a few minutes for prayer today? You’re in the right place! Try one of our new i pray podcasts. A few minutes is all you need to pray God’s word into any situation by interceding for friends, family, and yourself.

Show Notes:

Today we’re praying about hope.  We all go through seasons of life where hope seems to be in short supply. Perhaps you’re in the middle of a health crisis; maybe your marriage is rocky;  the kids have hit their teen years and decided to sow some wild oats; or maybe God feels like a distant relative. Whatever has caused you to lose hope, prayer is a powerful antidote to feelings of hopelessness.

Join Jane VanOsdol of OnlyByPrayer in praying for God to infuse some fresh hope into your situation.

Verse: Lamentations 3:22-24 “Through the Lord’s mercies we’re not consumed because His compassions fail not; they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion says my soul. Therefore I hope in Him.'”

i hear: he speaks

i hear

“Look at me and listen,” I often tell my class of lively fifth graders, “this is important.” My students are so quick to get caught up in what their friends are saying that they often miss important information they need to be successful with the task at hand.

I wonder how many times God has wanted to say the same thing to me.

“Look at me and listen! You need to learn this truth so you can be successful. Stop listening to the enemy, the world,  yourself and listen to Me!”

God’s word is the only source of truth we can trust. Plus, it is through His word we find healing, salvation and purpose for our lives. When He speaks, we need to listen.

i hear: traveling

i hear

I love to travel.

Loading up the car and heading to all points north is very exciting to me. I even enjoy the packing part … as a matter of fact I get a little carried away with packing. I always start with good intentions. One suitcase.

That’s it. Nothing more. One suitcase.

Well, maybe two suitcases. OK, two suitcases and a traveling bag. I have to take my favorite books, my latest knitting project, and my crossword puzzles for the car ride. And what would a vacation be without my bike? Or one kayak—for each person? Sigh.

My youngest son does not have this problem.

He is a one bag man. Whether he’s going to a wedding for a weekend or a two week jaunt at Isle Royale, he gets by with one bag. It’s not even a suitcase. Just a backpack.

He travels light.

i hear: anyone

Do you have a few minutes for Bible study?

i hear

:Come let us reason together. Though your sins be as scarlet, you shall be white as snow…” Isaiah 1:18

All of us are hurting. All of us have sinned. We all need the grace God offers by the cross of Christ. Who will may receive the gift of grace? God’s word says anyone … the broken ones, the scarred ones, the scared ones, the little ones, the any ones. Anyone may come to the cross and find grace for their sin and healing for their wounds. Anyone may join God in His kingdom work. No matter your past, no matter your present, anyone is welcome at the foot of the cross.
