Bible Journal-graphic: Text Me by Mary Kane

Text Me jpegGod is the author of communication. He used words to speak the world into existence. In the Garden of Eden, God and man communicated as they walked together. Because God  so loves the world, He has created many different methods of communication: Morse code, telegrams, telephones, television, letters, faxes, emails, billboards and as of late: texting.

Texting (originally called SMS) was primarily developed as a tool for hearing impaired. The first text message (“Merry Christmas”) was sent by Neil Papworth, a former developer at Sema Group Telecoms, to Richard Jarvis at Vodafone, in 1992.  But it wasn’t until 1998, after equipping  a cell phone with a QWERTY  keyboard that texting began to seriously impact the world.

I, for one, could not figure out why anyone would rather text than talk. Texting seemed so cold, so impersonal, so distant,  … so convenient … so efficient. Now I am hooked. In my busy middle-aged life, texting helps me manage career, home, and extended family responsibilities at the speed of byte!

God has been communicating with us by text-ing for centuries. He constantly sends personal messages to all who will read His text-s. We need only open His Word to start the conversation. He texts us and we text back. Quick and easy communication for a busy life.

Bible Journal-graphic: 3-2-1 Go! by Mary Kane

321We live in busy times. Modern conveniences are meant to decrease our workload, but in reality the opposite has proven true. Instead of wash on Monday, iron on Tuesday, mend on Wednesday … we can now accomplish all those tasks before ten a.m. and still make it to the gym before lunch.

Sometimes, because of unforeseen circumstances, (little children, grown children, accidents) we don’t have time for our usual Bible study. Bible Journal-graphic: 3-2-1 Go! is the perfect answer!

Get your Bible, run a copy of Bible Journal-graphic: 3-2-1 Go! helps to organize your  Bible study when you are short on time.

1 Thessalonians A Life of Faith, Part 8: From Cherish to Charge

DOve JPEG 10 edtFamily is the bedrock element of civilization and culture. God, creator and founder of family, placed the responsibility of family within the institution of marriage.  In God’s perfect plan, children are taught, fostered and nurtured to live a life of faith by a father and a mother.

Most children would agree, mothers have a softer touch than their masculine counterparts. No matter what our age, when we are sick, hurt, or upset, we want our mother.

But, when the chips are down and there is a problem to be solved (or a car to be repaired), fathers are on call.  Sometimes children need a good dose of a dad’s no-nonsense “straighten up and fly right” (especially teen-age sons). Such life-changing talks are best delivered by fathers.

Moms … dads … fathers … mothers …  cherish …  charge. It all adds up to family; not perfect but complete.  Together, fathers and mothers teach  and model  to their offspring how to live a life of faith.

The 12 Days of Thanks Giving: Day 12

Pump OBP Header 12Day 12:The Presence

“And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  Exodus 33:14

.

Presence  [prezuh ns] noun

1. the state or fact of being present, as with others or in a place.
2. attendance or company
3. immediate vicinity; proximity
4. a divine or supernatural spirit felt to be present :
.
In the Garden of Eden man walked in the very Presence tabernacle-ing within man. The Hebrew word for presence is paniym, which means face, surface, presence. I have been very familiar with this Hebrew word for many years and smugly thought I knew all about it … until I researched it for this study. I stopped in wonder when I discovered paniym also means, “before and behind, toward, in front of, forward, formerly, from beforetime, before, to the front of …” Amazing.
.
Why can we be at rest? Why can we be at peace? Because He is with us, guiding us, protecting us, leading us, holding us in the palm of his hands.  God’s presence is all over us and all in us. His Presence brings us rest. This holiday season, when we are feeling rushed and stressed, we don’t need to seek peace; we need to seek Presence.
