A Fresh Look- Take 5! by Mary Kane

March 9, 2010 by MaryK Leave a Comment

Bartemaeus heard that Jesus was coming. He staggered his way through the crowd to get to the one man who could help him, Jesus. Panting and anxious, he sat by the road and waited.

Sometimes I have felt like Bartemaeus, blind and desperate for Jesus. I don’t have to wait though; I can go to Jesus at any moment for comfort and healing.

Whom Shall I Fear? Take 5! by Mary Kane

Take 5!

5 verses, 5 Questions, 5 minutes

Whom Shall I Fear?

Please pray for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart and read Psalm 3:2-6.

In verse 2, please name the two “voices” we can choose to listen to.

We can choose to listen to the voice of God or the voice of man.

Which voice is trustworthy?

Please fill in the blank: “But You, O Lord are a _____________ for me.

What do you think of when you hear the word shield?

You probably said “A flat barrier a person holds in front of them to protect themselves from enemies.” The Hebrew word for shield implies something that completely surrounds a person.

What are we able to do in verse 5 because God is completely surrounding us?

How many people can we stand against because God is on our side?

If you have chapter heading at the start of each Psalm check and see why David wrote this Psalm… he was fleeing from his son! I can face many ten thousands enemies with more ease than one family member who opposes me! Family opposition is extremely painful; they have a different level of access to our hearts and lives than our enemies. We expect opposition from our enemies—not from our families. Most of us will not face ten thousands of people today. Most of us won’t face one thousand people today. Today, some of us may unfortunately face a family member who will oppose us. Wherever an attack may come from, God has got you covered. You and God against ten thousands of people—those are great odds!
